Utilities face the dot-com frontier

Article Abstract:

True electronic commerce has not yet been fully exploited by public utilities because they lack a database marketing strategy that would provide this type of information on a Web site. The fact that cyberspace has not yet been totally explored is partly a reason for the hesistance of utilities to engage in full electronic commerce. The result is that the World Wide Web is still an underused media for utilities that should be used to further customer acquisition and retention goals.
