Val-Pak goes online with coupons

Article Abstract:

Largo, FL-based Val-Pak Direct Marketing Systems Inc. launched on November 2, 1998 its Val-Pak Coupons On-Line, which works with 225 franchises and over half of its 130,000 small businesses and advertisers. The new online coupon system offers 32,000 to 35,000 available coupons to consumers through their computers, with participating such franchises as Holiday Inn and McDonald's. Val-Pak Coupons On-Line, available 24 hours a day and seven day a week, and offers it coupons either to be printed out by consumers or be added to personalized envelopes.

Yahoo plugs opt-in birthday club

Article Abstract:

Yahoo has launched Yahoo Birthday Club, a direct marketing program aimed at its over 40 million registered users. Registered users on their birthday will get via e-mail special exclusive discount offers from Yahoo's advertisers. The offer is good for 30 days after the e-mail was sent. The birthday club has four sponsors: Eddie Bauer, mammothgolf.com, Bluefly.com and Lowestfare.com. According to Seth Godin, Yahoo direct marketing vice president, the program will be more personalized as it grows and accepts more sponsors.

E-mail effort trumpets album's release

Article Abstract:

Silica Records, a new independent recording company in New York, NY, will launch a direct marketing campaign via e-mail on Sep 14, 2000 to promote the first album of the band Second Left that was released a week ago. The campaign will target two groups of people who have identified themselves to like music similar to that in the album. The names will be provided by 24/7 Media, which will also provide Silica with the Ice-9 interactive Java program to produce the e-mail message.
