W T globetrotters find new riches

Article Abstract:

London-based quantity surveyor WT Partnership International is an international practice which operates in 30 countries. It has recently set up an office in Milan, Italy. Global fee income is estimated to be 34.7 million pounds sterling for 1992/93. The UK recession has hit the company. UK staff have been reduced by 50. WT was established in 1976 after the merger of Wakeman Trower and Wolferstan Trower. It merged with Europe Etudes Getci of France in the 80s and Farrow Laing of South Africa in 1989. Chairman Keith Day owns the patent for a floating methanol processing plant which he hopes to develop.

Higgs and Hill on survival path

Article Abstract:

UK building contractor Higgs and Hill is riding the recession well. The company is Surrey-based and its work includes building projects in the South, London management contracting and property in the South East. Higgs has borrowings of 10 million pounds sterling and a sustainable cash flow. However its order books have fallen from 220 million in 1991 to 145 million pounds sterling in 1992. Higgs' building projects include financial institutional buildings and it is a Home Counties French and Spanish developer. Overseas operations which account for 15% are doing well.

New year boost for Lelliott

Article Abstract:

John Lelliott Group, traditional contracting and construction management company, made a 10 mil pounds sterling loss on a residential development and has seen turnover fall, although it has recently secured 20 million pounds sterling worth of new contracts. The company has been restructured and plans to target public sector work and sports stadiums.
