Wine seller's sales rise after mail revamp

Article Abstract:

Wine seller Geerlings and Wade's sales for 2nd qtr 2000 rose by 3.8% after the company modified its direct-mail strategy. The company said sales increased by $390,000 due to more effective acquisition mailings and higher electronic commerce sales. David Pearce, CEO of Geerlings & Wade, said better acquisition mailings were the result of improved response rates to its direct-mail offers. Pearce added that the company may buy a database marketing system that would help it create more customized marketing programs.

Upgrade takes handcuffs 0ff 911 call center

Visual Electronics Ltd of Denver, CO, has upgraded the phone system the Lakewood Police Dept's 911 call center in Lakewood, CO. The company has supplied the department with two redundant servers, a computer telephony integration system and Digital-Fax tri-color monitor with audio and visual add-ons for measuring the average wait time of callers. The upgraded 911 system has enabled the Lakewood Police Dept to identify calls faster and easily monitor service levels.

Scandinavian market warms to call center development

Article Abstract:

Several call center operators are very much interested in operating in the four Scandinavian countries despite very restrictive laws in the region. The main resons for this include the deep Internet penetration in these countries and the deregulation of utilities. Of the four Scandinavian countries, Denmark and Norway have the most restrictive laws on outbound calling.
