Article Abstract:

Information on the different computerized payment options for use in retail outlets and at exhibitions is presented. The advantages of chip and pin are explained. Using private networks instead of the Internet to reduce fraud and increase security is discussed, focusing on the fraud prevention system being effectively used by UK electrical goods retailer Comet. The systems being used by the fish bar Finnegan and IT finance provider Syscaps are evaluated.
