When the clock turns over to Jan 1, 2000, many computers and appliances operated with computer chips will assume the date is Jan 1, 1900, due to a programming oversight. Consumers should test their appliances and home computers by setting the date for some time in 2000 to see what happens. Newer products and Macintosh computers should not be effected.
