Changing utilities: buying power

Article Abstract:

The UK electricity market is set to become cheaper with competition and deregulation driving prices down. By the end of 1998 all electricity users in the UK will be able to choose from a range of suppliers. For some businesses, with demand of more than 100kW, the market is already open. Suggestions as to which options businesses should choose in the deregulated electricity market are presented.

Changing utilities: fresh water

Article Abstract:

There is little scope for UK businesses wishing to change their water supplier, although privatization of the ten water and sewage companies in England and Wales offers some degree of choice. There are few ways to cut water costs by renegotiating contracts with water suppliers but companies can save money by undertaking a water audit of their premises.
