Computer telephony integration systems are usually described as first-party call control or third-party call control. In first-party control the computer and telephone are directly linked while third-party control links the two via a server network. One of the most useful features of CTI is 'screen-popping' whereby information about a customer appears on a computer screen before the call is answered, allowing operators to be more effective.
