Drive down your car running costs

Article Abstract:

Cars can depreciate at the rate of 45% over the first two years, although small and luxury cars tend to keep their value. Buying a second hand car overcomes this rapid depreciation problem. Looking for the best insurance deal can save money. Regular servicing ensures that cars run efficiently and drivers should try to avoid short journeys, driving fast and having under-inflated tyres as these factors all increase fuel consumption. There is little to gain from having a car which has good fuel economy unless drivers travel more than 15,000 miles per year.

Driving down your car servicing costs

Article Abstract:

Charges made for servicing a car can vary greatly between garages in the UK. Prices are generally higher in the south east, especially London, than in the rest of the UK, but also vary considerably within the same area. Most new car owners use franchised dealers, which mainly specialise in one make of car, but charges vary greatly even among franchised dealers. It is worth considering using an independent garage for servicing, which will not necessarily affect the car's warranty.
