Look after your lawn: now is the best time to give your lawn a helping hand so that it's at its best in time for the summer

Article Abstract:

Lawns need to be checked for permanent damage after the winter, and should be mown as soon as the grass starts to grow. Lawns also benefit from feeding and should be fed in the spring to help thicken the turf. Weeds can be dug out with a knife or special weeding tool, but small leafed creeping weeds will require a lawn week killer treatment. Moss can weaken the grass and a moss killer can be applied in the spring. The thatch, or dead layer of grass stems, can be scratched out using a spring-tine rake. Bare patches can be re-seeded and edges can be kept neat with long handled law shears or an electric grass trimmer.

Don't give thieves a helping hand

Article Abstract:

The A1 Security & Electrical AJ600S DIY burglar alarm, which costs 70 pounds sterling from B&Q is ranked one of two best buy alarm kits. The kit includes two window/door detectors and two PIR. Similarly, the Yale HSA2500 wireless alarm system is also recommended, although it is more expensive at 200 pounds. Home owners are advised to install alarms to deter potential burglars, as only one quarter of all homes are currently fitted with one.
