Low to mid-range analogue telephone systems range from four to 12 exchange lines with eight to 32 extensions. There are few systems available in this sector of the market because the more versatile digital systems are taking over. The Panasonic KX-TA624 is a hybrid system with a maximum configuration of six exchange lines and 24 extensions. It has a good range of standard and optional features, including call logging, call forward to external lines and a door lock control facility. Other telephone systems are evaluated.

Crane Communications' Crane Sentinel system is a good all-round system that will meet the needs of the small office. Its maximum configuration is three exchange lines and eight extensions, and it supports ISDN. Features include direct dialling inward, call forward to external lines and call logging.

Low to mid-range digital telephone systems range from around four and 40 exchange lines. The Siemens Realitis DX 150E system has a maximum configuration of 60 exchange lines and 144 extensions. It supports basic and primary rate ISDN, while auto attendant and integrated voice mail features are standard. Other features include music on hold, direct dialling inward and discreet intrude. Other telephone systems are evaluated.
