MPV crash test shock

Article Abstract:

Families which use multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) for their safe transportation may be risking fatal injury. A Euro NCAP crash test has found that many MPVs are less safe than conventional cars, especially if they are involved in front-impact crashes. Results of the crash test show that the Renault Espace provides the best protection, while the Chrysler Voyager offers very poor protection, placing both adults and children at risk of serious injury.

Article Abstract:

Multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) are meant to offer more flexibility than a normal estate car and appear perfect for a large family. However, they do have drawbacks, the most significant being their poor performance in recent crash tests. An evaluation of the MPVs available in the UK shows that the Renault Espace is the best buy, with a comfortable ride, smooth engine and good crash protection. Other MPVs are evaluated.
