Pioneering mediation in Peru

Article Abstract:

Efforts to introduce mediation to Peru's judicial system have made some headway. Although adopting the concept in a country where decisions are arrived at under a collective view is difficult, mediation may prove to be effective since it is similar to communal decision making and recognizes the different roles, professions and even ethnic origins involved in disputes. However, mediation in Peru can only work well with the upper middle class and the middle class, which do not approve of mediation owing to the perceived lack of privacy among mediators.

The western nuclear industry may reap huge profits in the refitting of these reactors despite expert opinions stating that these reactors may not be made any safer.
