24th Conference on Broadcast Meteorology, Dallas, Texas, 15-20 January 1995

Article Abstract:

A number of important topics was discussed during the 24th Conference on Broadcast Meteorology held in Dallas, TX, on Jan. 15-20, 1995. These include gender discrimination in the atmospheric sciences profession, a model for a multicounty severe weather warning system, satellite imagery, the decentralization of the National Weather Service, worldwide weather forecasting and the roles of weathercasters in protecting the public against hazardous climatic conditions.

Greater Milwaukee

Article Abstract:

Chris Sisko was the guest speaker of the conference held by the American Meteorology Society in Milwaukee, WS. He is from the Cooperative Institute of Meteorological Satellite Studies involved in the development of instruments for satellites that enhance the accuracy of computer model forecasting. During his conference presentation, he discussed the four aircrafts used in meteorological studies and the reconnaissance missions conducted by these aircrafts.

Local chapter affairs

Article Abstract:

The 78th Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society was held in Phoenix, AZ. Eleven chapters of the society held poster exhibits and information sessions during the meeting. About 40 persons attended the event's breakfast meeting to discuss the society's activities. A committee meeting was also held to present ideas for Local Chapter Affairs articles which will be published in the 'Bulletin,' for the coming year.
