Discussion on excavations at the Lower Palaeolithic site at East Farm, Barnham, Suffolk, 1989-1992

Article Abstract:

Questions have been raised against the method used by researchers to date sediments at the Lower Paleolithic amino acid ratios from fossil bivalves and England. The method, which uses amino acid ratios of fossil bivalves and gastropods to correlate sediments with Oxygen Isotope Stage 11, is being criticized for attempting to link the British terrestrial record and the global stratigraphical framework. However, the criticism does not have any basis since the method had already been used in previous research.

Discussion on facies analysis in the lower Greensand using ground-penetrating radar

Article Abstract:

The contention that the proposed tectonic influence on Lower Greensand sedimentation patterns contradicts the latest Geological Survey Memoir is unfounded, since this model is backed by the findings of other researchers. Several other inaccuracies were put forward, such as the argument that the Shenley Limestone remains unexposed up to the present time and the confusing manner in which the term 'Carstone' was employed.

Chemical cyclicity and correlation of Lower Lias mudstones using gamma ray logs, Yorkshire, UK

Article Abstract:

An analysis describing Lower Lias mudstones is presented. Five mudstone units and an outcrop gamma-ray log for the Lower Lias was prepared by using natural gamma-ray spetrometryon the coastal areas of Redcar and Robin Hood's Bay. The units were then correlated with their counterparts in the log of the Felixkirk Borehole. It is shown that a stratigraphic gap exists between the two regions.
