Kinematics and timing of three superposed extensional systems, East Central Idaho: evidence for an Eocene tectonic transition

Article Abstract:

East central Idaho is the site of continuing crustal extension which marked its beginnings in the Cenozoic era. The extension runs through three episodes which present one of the longest intervals in the North America Cordillera region. The first episode shows NW-SE extension in peak Eocene volcanism period. North to NNW normal fault formation characterized the second phase. The region was extended in a NE-SW direction by Miocene and younger SW faults for the third period.

Tectonic analysis of the Husavik-Flatey Fault (northern Iceland) and mechanisms of an oceanic transform zone, the Tjornes Fracture Zone

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the reconstruction of four tectonic activities in the Flateyjarskagi Peninsula in Iceland. The influence of strike-slip and normal faulting on the geology of the Husavik-Flatey Fault is discussed.
