Summary of the International Symposium on Indian Monsoon and Pollution over the Monsoon Environment (INTROMET 97)

Article Abstract:

Various international organizations involved in meteorology sponsored the International Symposium on Indian Monsoon and Pollution over the Monsoon Environment held in New Delhi, India, on Dec 2-5, 1997. The symposium, organized by the Indian Meteorological Society, focused on monsoon studies, atmospheric pollution and their subsequent forecast models. The meeting also delved on the utilization and significance of satellite data and meteorological instruments.

Summary of the Jehuda Neumann Memorial Symposium on Mesoscale Modeling and Climate History, 4-6 January 1995, Jerusalem, Israel

Article Abstract:

The Jehuda Neumann Memorial Symposium on Mesoscale Modeling and Climate History held from Jan. 4-6, 1995 in Jerusalem, Israel, recognized the contributions of Jehuda Neumann to meteorological research particularly to the study of mesoscale modeling. Four sessions were devoted to the presentation of different papers discussing the applications of mesoscale modeling to atmospheric problems such as air pollution and weather variations.

Migrating soaring birds align along sea-breeze fronts: first evidence from Israel

Article Abstract:

A net of air quality monitoring surface stations was used to gather data on bird migration in Israel, focusing on coastal patterns. The data indicate that soaring birds are able to perceive and take advantage of upward thermals and eddies that occur along sea-breeze fronts.
