Radio frequency allocations for meteorological operations and research (adopted by AMS Council 10 January 1999)

Article Abstract:

The American Meteorological Society (AMS) has expressed its concern over the increasing encroachment on radio frequency spectrum allocated for research and operational meteorology purposes by commercial users. These radio frequencies are crucial for the continued operation and improvements in weather sensing. Protecting these radio bands is in the interest of public safety and security. The AMS requests all users of meteorological radio frequency spectrum to register via their appropriate national channels.
