A model of rural-urban conflict in developing countries

Article Abstract:

An analysis of a rural-urban sector model for developing countries was conducted to determine the effects of consumer goods rationing onlabor supply. The two sector model was also used to observe the effects of fiscal policy and exchange rate policy on the production of agricultural and urban goods. The results revealed that increases in government spending and exchange rate devaluation would adversely affect agricultural production. In addition, the results determined that rationing of imported consumer goods could lead to trade imbalances.

The magnitude and determinants of capital flight the case for six Sub-Saharan African countries

Article Abstract:

A study of capital flight movements among the countries of Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan and Zaire are presented. The paper suggests that the burden of capital flight among Sub-Saharan African countries may be higher than that experienced by Latin American countries. Real exchange rate overvaluation and the increase of government foreign debt and government guarantees on private foreign debt may be the primary factors that led to capital flight for the African countries.
