Free the Yen

Article Abstract:

The Japanese yen is undervalued which irritates its trading partners. Unfortunately, Japan is responding to this by further distorting its capital market and capital flows. If capital were freer, the Japanese could take a more market-oriented role in international finance. A graph compares the yen and the dollar.

Oil-rich sultanate, Brunei, does not want to become independent of Britain. However, Britain is relinquishing responsibility for defense and foreign policy by the end of 1983. The role of the sultan is considered. Maps are included.
