No place like home: an examination of the home field advantage in gambling strategies in NFL football

Article Abstract:

A study on the gambling strategies in the NFL football games revealed that the bettors recognize the advantages enjoyed by the home teams, which include learning, travel, and crowd factors. Home teams tend to win most of the time, thus offering greater chances of winning to bettors. The results indicated that betting on favorite home teams yielded a win rate of 0.524 while betting on the home underdogs yielded a win rate of 0.486. Home teams only produced 0.592 win rate during national games while the win rate of home underdogs produced a win rate of 0.656.

Player salary share and the distribution of player earnings

Article Abstract:

The veteran free agency on the player compensation share and on the distribution of the playerEs compensation is discussed. An imitation of the effect of the universal free agency in baseball showed a reasonable increase in the player salary share and a slump in the compensation inequality among players.

The home field advantage revisited: a search for the bias in other sports betting markets

Article Abstract:

In investigating anew the bias in pricing of the home field advantage in the betting market on basketball and baseball professional games, this paper concludes there is no mispricing.
