Resisting migration: wage rigidity and income distribution

Article Abstract:

Countries are projected to benefit from in-migration as native-born residents increase their consumption while global output is enhanced. However, natives will reject migration when participants are unskilled laborers who will depress total-wage share of the local population under a rigid system. The welfare state is also burdened as income redistribution policy costs are increased. Thus, skilled workers, flexible wage systems and limited welfare programs are vital to migration acceptance.

ITC voting behavior on sunset reviews

Article Abstract:

The study stated the first attempt to analyze ITC Commissioner voting behavior on sunset reviews of antidumping cases. The results also revealed apparent biases against Chinese competitors and pourer nations generally, and favorable treatment toward U.S. steel producers and high-wage industries. The research will shed light on the degree to which sunset review serves as a reform of U.S. antidumping policy.

Capital income taxation under majority voting with aging population

Article Abstract:

The study has developed a simple political-economy model to analyze the capital-tax dilemma. An old person is, at the same time, a higher-than-average recipient of the welfare-state benefits, financed by taxes, and a higher-than-average payer of capital income taxes. The report investigated the asymmetric effect of aging on the taxation of capital and labor.
