The costs of addicted gamblers: should the states initiate mega-lawsuits similar to the tobacco cases?

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the addictive nature of gambling and the cost of gambling to gambling addicts in the United States are discussed. Particular attention is given to legal, political and social problem of addictive gambling and to the question whether there should be legal cases against the industry.

Assessing self-reported expenditures on gambling

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning techniques of improving the accuracy of data reflecting the degree of gambling addiction in the United States are discussed. Particular attention is given to corroborations of information from various sources, including self-reported expenditures and national survey data.

The feasibility of regulating gambling on the internet

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning ways in which internet gambling might be possible are discussed. Particular attention is given to problems related to internet gambling which need to be considered when drawing a regulatory framework, such as the international and technical aspects of gambling.
