The triumph of monetarism?

Article Abstract:

Irving Fisher was a pioneer of monetarism at the start of the 20th century, and New Classical and New Keynesian views have come to dominate macroeconomics by the end of the century. Much of the New Keynesian tradition has been developed from monetarism. Classic Monetarism may have developed from an earlier school called Old Chicago Monetarism, and it came to influence New Keynsians. Political monetarism died out in the 1980s when the difficulties of controlling the money supply became apparent.

The chronically infected cell as a target for the treatment of HIV infection and AIDS

Article Abstract:

HIV-1 protease inhibitors, soluble CD4-(Lys-Asp-Glu-Leu) (sCD4-KDEL) and sCD4-toxin conjugate proteins function as antiviral agents that act directly on chronically infected cells. Stable protease inhibitors interfere viral polyprotein processing which leads to the formation of non-infectious viral species. Moreover, sCD4-KDEL proteins remove the viral envelope protein that covers the virions while sCD4-toxin conjugates facilitate the termination of infected cells.

Safety in numbers

Article Abstract:

Paris seems overstaffed with policemen who are nevertheless courteous and pleasant-looking. Many of them have joined the police force to avoid being drafted into the army. Perhaps, they could instead apply as waiters, a profession which is in short supply in the city.
