Window furnishings

Article Abstract:

The UK market for window furnishings has seen mixed fortunes since 1994. Sales were weak in 1995 and 1996, but rose in 1997 and 1998 as the housing market improved and interest rates declined. The market is forecast to be quite strong in 1999, and a 5% growth in real terms is predicted for the whole of the 1994 to 1999 period. Sales of blinds have increased more rapidly than sales of curtains since 1994, partly as a result of the move towards softer blinds, which tend to be expensive.
