Rivalry and rebuff in race for UKPd2m

Article Abstract:

In light of unfairness allegations made against the British Academy over its UKPd2 mil centenary research award, a complaint made by a Sussex research team led by Richard Grove is examined. Grove alleges that there was a conflict of interests between his application for the award and one of the external assessors appointed to his project. Ken Emond, assistant secretary of the Academy denies that the selection process was unfair, noting that it is not normal academy practice for award candidates to even complain about the external assessors.
