Beauty in the pump priming

Article Abstract:

The University of Newcastle on Tyne has an Engineering Design Centre (EDC), set up by the Science and Engineering Research Council to design large projects, and see whether engineering design can be taught at this level. It is supported by large companies like NEI Parsons, British Steel and Shell. The EDC charges 5,000 pounds sterling which encourages local companies to join, and the local Training and Enterprise Council has used some EDC material for training.
