Has Gus Van Sant gone Psycho? When the director of `Drugstore Cowboy' and `My Own Private Idaho' announced his shot-by-shot remake of the classic thriller, cinephiles screamed sellout; but it may be his most experimental film yet

Article Abstract:

Gus Van Sant decided to direct a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's classic movie thriller `Psycho' without any justification for taking on the challenge of copying a film masterpiece. He believes that a replica of a classic is capable of reflecting the director's influence on the style and impact of a film. Part of the dynamics and energy of the film evolve because there are various unknown factors that make this kind of project experimental for the director.

Hopes for Hofmeister

Article Abstract:

Research on solvation has been undertaken by Soper and Leberman using a sophisticated technique known as the ISIS pulsed-neutron source. The authors are inspired by the century-old research on the trends of the Hofmeister series which continue to elude definitive analysis. They evaluate neutron diffraction characteristics achieved through the dissolution of four salts in Dsub2O and water.
