China widens red road

Article Abstract:

Some senior university managers, in China, have called for an improvement in the standard of education. The Chinese government have been allowing a limited number of universities to join together to be able to provide a wider range of courses. There was concern the universities were too limited in their approach. Some observers are worried changes in the size of universities will not necessarily improve standards. The university had been previously reorganized in 1952. Some universities have not been permitted to merge whilst other small establishments have been renamed as universities.

Dragon finds use for Cobra

Article Abstract:

Relations between China and India have been improving as India's position has strengthened since the economic crisis in Asia. The Indian government realised they could not longer rely on Japan. The education authorities in both nations have recognized the lack of interest in studying each others language or culture. China have been looking for help from Indian information and communications technology experts to help them with their new technology, particularly as they often have a good knowledge of the English language.

New life for Asian culture

Article Abstract:

The reawakening of interest in Asian culture, formerly the province of anthropologists, began in the 1970s when the dramatic recovery of postwar Japan was partially attributed to cultural factors. The subsequent success of other Asian economies has further focused minds on the part that culture plays in economic growth. However, the rebirth of an Asian culture needs to be backed by scholarly substance if any long-term education value is to be obtained.
