Picking from the Management Tree

Article Abstract:

The most important determinant of success in an organization is the quality of its decision-making or management personnel. Effective staffing of these positions depends on a method of selection which defines the nature of the organization and the environment of dynamics which restrict growth. Traditional 'old- boy' networks are subjective. Internal promotion eventually leads to the in-breeding of narrow and limited perspectives. Advertising and agency recruitment is effective to the extent that the requirements of the position are easily and specifically definable. A director of the world's largest executive search firm defines the critical path method of executive search as the most sophisticated mechanism available for management recruitment.
