Cult of the indie visual

Article Abstract:

Screenwriter Andrew Davies regrets the fact that it is very easy to obtain video recordings of his adaptations of classic novels such as 'Vanity Fair,' while no video recordings of his original series 'A Very Peculiar Practice' are available. This series drew on his own experiences of teaching at Warwick University, England. He left university teaching after writing the first series, and felt comfortable with this decision, as he did not like the way university management had become more commercially-oriented. However, he recognizes that the commercial approach has become necessary.
