Does democracy add up?

Article Abstract:

A Democratic Audit of the UK will seek to discover how democratic our institutions really are and how ordinary people feel about them. The audit will look at central, local and regional government as well as businesses, unions and religion. It will also analyse citizenship and social factors.

Article Abstract:

The record of George W. Bush on equality and women's issues is examined ahead of the 2004 Presidential election in the US. It is argued that Bush's record in these areas is poor and that he has used and exploited a variety of issues in order to roll back federal policies that had been designed to level the gender playing field and provide a greater level of equality in the US.
