Education needs cabinet-level status

Article Abstract:

The crisis over the US education department can be solved by giving it cabinet-level status. Education is most essential for the nation's future. National leadership and advocacy, along with support from the private sector, and state and local governments, are required to save the department. Politics is the main reason behind the attacks on the Dept of Education. Its closing will mean that American education will lose its power and advocacy in Washington, DC.

Washington does not know best

Article Abstract:

The education policy of the US should be revised so that control rests again with state and local governments. Family responsibility must be empowered to return as a strong force in the education of the nation's children. The present policy is wrong and meddlesome. A national movement may ve needed to cause a change in the present policy.
