He could handle cyborgs

Article Abstract:

A conference was held in London, England, recently to pay tribute to the work of French philosopher Georges Canguilhem. Ganguilhem died in 1995 and is often forgotten yet his ideas are becoming increasingly pertinent in contemporary society. His work examined rationality and its limits in the life sciences. One speaker used Canguilhem's ideas to support the independent judgement of doctors as against evidence found in clinical trials. Another valued his work on the relationship between man and machines and a third applied Canguilhem's thinking on anomalies to genetics.

From tiger to poodle?

Article Abstract:

The economy of Hong Kong will be increasing challenged on its reunification to China because of a possible lack of vision by Chinese business leaders, and rising costs. Chinese control of Hong Kong will change the extent democratic legislature is allowed to govern. Some observers are concerned that the new Chinese leaders will not act in the interests of Hong Kong but only in the interests of China. Hong Kong may find it difficult to maintain its competitive edge when Chinese companies try to gain unfair influence in Hong Kong.

Could the sun set in the East?

Article Abstract:

It has been widely claimed that the Far East will be the dominant region in economic terms in the 21st century. Indeed, many countries in this region have experienced rapid economic expansion over recent years, but this is not to say that there is really a Pacific Asia 'miracle.' It is misguided to state that there are specific Asian values which account for economic success in the region. It must also be recognised that there are still many difficulties to be overcome there.
