How to think about terrorism

Article Abstract:

The techniques that could be adopted for prevention of future terror attacks on a nation are discussed. It is concluded that prevention of attacks requires good intelligence activities, plain old politics, and psychology, with the primary mission being to track the conspirators who live in cities or in remote mountain hideouts where high-tech collection system are not as useful as on-the-ground reporting from human spies.

Delusions of impartiality: the United Nations and intervention

Article Abstract:

Foreign military intervention in civil wars is based on a doctrine of peacemaking that presumes intervention will be brief and impartial among combatants. However, history shows that US and United Nations intervention in countries including Bosnia, Somalia and Haiti have been far from these ideals.

Article Abstract:

American national interests include both direct military and economic interests, which must be objectively prioritized. . Intervention in Kosovo was not dictated by direct military or economic interest, but was finally compelled by its impact on regional, especially Russian, stability.
