...think the history national curriculum would benefit from a little more colour

Article Abstract:

The history curriculum in the United Kingdom tends to focus on the achievements of white people, ignoring the role played by people such as Granville Woods, the "black Edison", or Mary Seacole, a black nurse and contemporary of Florence Nightingale. While the teaching of history is changing and becoming more inclusive, more needs to be done to ensure that people such as Seacole get the recognition they deserve.

Nelson to oust Nazis

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the teaching of history in schools in the United Kingdom. It is suggested that the excessive focus on Nazism and Hitler that has been in evidence in recent years may be on the wane, being replaced by the study of a number of upcoming anniversaries and cross-cultural history and geopolitical history.

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the meaning of war, what causes wars to start and how historians perceive and justify wars. A number of factors go in to the outbreak of war, including political, strategic, military and cultural issues, and historians attempt to weigh them up in order to determine why and how wars take place.
