Logging is out as West logs into learning at a distance

Article Abstract:

Western Governors University or Virtual U is a plan that has attracted governors from 13 US states. Older students have become increasingly common so there is more demand for low-cost distance learning in the US following a model established by the Open University in England. The plan is for the university to initially offer credits instead of whole courses. Courses could be developed that are tailor-made for the requirements of individual students.

Emory University professor Michael Bellesiles has been vilified for his claim that the US gun culture was an invention of the 19th century and did not play a key part in shaping the US. Bellesiles says that even by 1850 guns were owned by less than 10% of the population.
