An examination of a report issued by a select committee which savages the proposals contained with the government's white paper for higher education. Issues examined include the white paper's plans for research, higher education and business, teaching and learning, the expansion of higher education, fair access to higher education and university funding and student support.

Overhaul plan for foundations

Article Abstract:

Government advisers are contemplating radically reshaping the government's flagship two-year foundation degree, which plays a key part in plans to expand higher education. The proposals have been greeted by accusations that the changes will undermine the rationale behind the qualifications by allowing the work-based elements of the degrees to be diluted.
