Mummy, I want to be a housewife

Article Abstract:

Feminists have for many years been calling on British women to abandon their traditional role as a housewife and become actively involved in the world of work. It is certainly true that more women now go out to work, but many are only in part time employment. Furthermore, many still wish to remain at home, and feel that their wishes are being overlooked by feminists, academics and sociologists. A recent European survey by MORI indicates a similar trend, with most women seeking the work they do as a job, rather than a long-term career.

Marry in haste...

Article Abstract:

The UK government is considering a merger between the National Council for Vocational Qualifications (NCVQ) and the School Curriculum and Assessment Authority (SCAA). Employers could lose the emphasis on competence and practical skills of National Vocational Qualifications. Written exams could deter some applicants. One solution would be for the SCAA to focus on younger students up to the age of 16 years old, with the NCVQ focusing on older students.
