Once more into the bunker

Article Abstract:

German historian and journalist Joachim Fest describes his family history and his experiences of being conscripted into the German army on 01 July 1944 in the light of the publication of his book "Inside Hitler's Bunker". Fest has returned time and again during his career to the subject of Hitler and the Nazis - his 1973 biography of Adolf Hitler is regarded as a milestone of historiography - and he responds to critics he argue that the story of his latest book has told elsewhere by asking "Where?" and going on to point out that little of any truth has actually been written about the two-week period Hitler spent in his bunker.
