Over here, overworked, overlooked

Article Abstract:

Evidence is growing that, contrary to popular belief, immigration benefits the receiving country and that preventing it is economically damaging. Immigration controls are deemed necessary to prevent a country being swamped by millions of poor people. However the number of workers moving from Europe's poor south to the richer north has risen little since the introduction of freedom of movement in 1992. Furthermore, US studies show that immigrants can expand demand for native workers by doing the jobs that natives have abandoned.

The future of assistance to Palestinian refugees
