Computer designer Gene Amdahl, with his company, Trilogy, is aiming for the mainframe computer market. He will emphasize chip technology. Stiff competition will come from IBM. Problem areas include IBM compatibility, marketing power, price wars and developing workable technology. A graph shows the United States market shares for mainframe computers by company.

China is teaching its students self-restraint and abstinence in sex-education classes as a way to encourage fidelity to the family and prevent the spread of HIV. Safe sex and contraception are not emphasized because that information may cause young people to experiment with sex.
