Radical groups face scrutiny

Article Abstract:

Universities in the UK are to receive a 60-page guidance document from Universities UK and the Standing Conference of Principals which will provide instructions on how to deal with extreme religious or political activity and on how to promote good race relations. The release of the document, which is expected to be revised in the light of the bombings in London, comes as evidence has mounted relating to the activities of extremists on university campuses.

Survey shows cheating is rife

Article Abstract:

A quarter of students in the United Kingdom admit plagiarism and nearly all of them are getting away with it, according to survey conducted by FreshMinds, research consultancy, in consultation with the Plagiarism Advisory Service (PAS). The report, which was presented at the inaugural conference of the universities' PAS, revealed that only 3% of the students who admitted to plagiarism had been caught.

Nursing students complain the most

Article Abstract:

Academics in nursing and subjects realted to health face more student complaints than colleagues in other disciplines, according to figures from the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA). In 2005, 78 students in subjects allied to medicine made formal complaints to the OIA.
