Gillian Sheppard, the British secretary of state for education and employement, states that the Dearing committee has been established to investigate the needs of higher education in Britain and to determine suitable methods of addressing these requirements. Adapt to survive in formidable form

Article Abstract:

The British education system should be changed to incorporate ongoing training for adults, who now have to continually update their knowledge in the workplace because of rapidly changing technological advances. The system must be able to adapt to the current climate if the country is to ensure that suitable training for all employment needs is provided for. Lifelong education must be made a priority in all European countries, including Britain.

Yangtze doodle dandy

Article Abstract:

Art education in the United Kingdom compares poorly with that of China, where much more emphasis is placed on formal drawing lessons. Chinese methods are too inflexible for the United Kingdom, although it is evident that Chinese primary school art work is superior to that of equivalent British students. The Chinese believe that art is made up of a skill-set which must be acquired by rote rather than being developed in an individual manner.
