Contemporary artist Laurie Fendrich gives her views on restoring the idea of beauty in art in her book Sleeping Beauty. The contemporary artists have their real interests that range from sex and death to politics, race, ethnicity, popular culture, religion, math, science, and the theoretical underpinnings of art itself.

A US lecturer has has launched the 'Rate Your Students' blog with the aim of pointing out the hypocrisy of rating anyone following the launch of the Rate My Professors website. The Rate Your Students site initially saw much student bashing but then changed to academics writing about how to change things.
