Textbook publishing: Little choice

Article Abstract:

The US textbook industry has narrowed down to only four major publishing companies, with several major educational publishing houses disappearing as a result of the mergers and acquisitions. The National Education Association and its state affiliates, elected officials, editorial writers and educators should put pressure on the educational publishers to produce cheaper books that are text-centered, simpler in design and more honest in content.

Old age: Redefining retirement

Article Abstract:

Several US senior citizens are considering working into new areas of interest and pursuits, rather than retiring, both for money and for the joy of experience. The companies are hence expected to adjust their outlook about men and women over age 50 and offer them with new and challenging opportunities.
