The only way to get with the program

Article Abstract:

An analysis of how universities in the United States are hiring their own students to help teach faculty members how to use high-tech equipment and embrace the information age. The faculty members, many of whom are burdened with the responsibilities of research and teaching, welcome the help that the students can give in bringing them up to speed with regard to the use of technology, while the students get the chance to earn some money and experience working conditions within the academic sector.

'Floating wraiths' thrive on growing old creatively

Article Abstract:

Many universities in the United States are setting up facilities for retired faculty and former staff as a way of dealing with the aging scholarly community. These facilities are there to deal with the impending expansion in the number of older academics that will occur when the baby boom generation starts to retire. These facilities offer a social outlet for retired scholars but some also provide full-time research and teaching facilities and financial sponsorship.
