An article by Carlos Fuentes in which he expressed pessimism about the likely impact on US foreign policy of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon is discussed. He expressed concern that Americans would lack awareness of the international actions of their government, as was the case with previous crimes against humanity.

An attempt to identify the causes of war. It is argued that, in fact, wars never end, peace is an illusion, that communities are constantly under threat from other rival communities and that the absence of active campaigning does not mean that peace has broken out.
