Will our family embrace a 'hobbit' as one of its own?

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the moral implications of the discovery of the remains of a new species of humans, dubbed Homo floresiensis, on the island of Flores in Indonesia. It is argued that there will be a backlash against the attempt to include the new discovery in the human family as including a creature with a brain no bigger than that of a chimp into the human family will have implications for how we look at animals such as chimpanzees.

Sick of the sidelines

Article Abstract:

The professor of women's and gender history at Portsmouth University argues that the study of history in the United Kingdom is sexist and that a white, male, middle-class elite dominates, deciding what subjects are "worthy". It is contended that the profession as a whole needs to address this bias and change its practices.
