Oiling the wheels

The creation of the automobile led to many social changes in the 20th century, and the century could be called the oil era because of these changes. The 21st century will likely see less reliance on oil because of its limited supply and limited development of engines that use petroleum. Development of alternative fuels will become greater as well.
